Can the beauty industry still be done?

The pandemic has had an unprecedented impact on all industries. Many people, including our peers and even our students, are asking: Can we still do makeup now? Is there still business? Is there a future in this field?

Undeniably, the beauty industry has been greatly affected. Industries closely related to the beauty industry, such as film and television, entertainment, and events, have all slowed down or come to a standstill.

However, does this mean the industry is dead? That the market no longer needs it? That it's been eliminated?

❌ No, it's not that. Just like right now, compared to many industries, the one that's been hit the hardest and unable to operate is the tourism industry. Does that mean it's no longer needed? The answer is absolutely ❌ no. Ask yourself how much you want to fly and travel again 😆

Just like all major industries, think about it: how would the entertainment industry function without makeup artists? Who would do the hair and makeup for celebrities and actors? Who would be responsible for touch-ups, costume changes, and wardrobe preparation on set? Who would handle the styling for the currently popular personal branding designs? What about weddings? If all of this were gone, it's likely you wouldn't see major entertainment shows or film and television works in the future, or even brand cover ads, etc.

You might feel uncertain about the future prospects of entering the makeup and styling industry. After all, we live in an era where various industries are gradually being replaced by machines and technology. However, I can assure you with certainty that the beauty industry is very difficult to replace in the future; it will absolutely not be replaced by machines. Why is that?

The theory is simple. Because our industry is handmade, not as simple as machine copy-pasting.

Imagine if there was a machine that could design makeup suited to everyone's face shape, features, the three facial thirds, facial proportions, and contours. The world is vast, and everyone has a different face and a different temperament. What kind of makeup is suitable for everyday wear, or what kind of makeup is needed for a special look, adjusting eye shape, modifying facial features, making lips appear larger or smaller, correcting drooping eyes, and so on. All of these require skill and are done by hand. No machine can perfectly address the imperfections of the human face. Even if one existed, you probably wouldn't choose it.
Maybe today I'm in a good mood and want to wear a sweeter makeup look, so what button do you press? Or after putting on makeup, you want to add richer colors, so what button do you press? Thinking about it, it just doesn't work 😅
Selfie beauty filters and makeup filters are certainly not a problem, unless you don't go out and don't need social interaction. Otherwise, you definitely need us 🥰 As long as people want to be beautiful, we must exist 😆

Next is hairstyling. Many people think it's great if they can just tie their hair into a ponytail, or tying a braid is already their limit. Without us hairstylists, what will happen to your hair? Who will style it? Is there a machine that can preset hairstyles? We believe that will be very difficult to achieve in the future. So it still relies on craftsmanship and skill.

Our industry is highly in demand by the market. Due to the pandemic, we are temporarily unable to operate as frequently as before. However, we will absolutely not be eliminated.

Can we reignite the glory of this industry and return to the busy days of the past together? It depends on everyone working together to fight the epidemic, learning to coexist with the virus, and each person doing their part in epidemic prevention. I believe this day will surely come!

Let's look back at the makeup and hair events our academy led our students to before the pandemic. Looking back at us before the pandemic, full of memories and satisfaction ❤️
