When can we take off again?
Recalling the last time I took students to Taiwan for advanced studies, it was already in 2019.
Although the epidemic disrupted students' plans to study in Taiwan,
But at the same time, it allows students to solidify their foundation here, so they won't waste the opportunity in advanced courses and will cherish it more. After all, dreams are a luxury, which is why they are so difficult to achieve. Who would value something that's easily obtained?
Someone might ask,
“Why do you need to go for further studies? Isn't finishing the courses enough?”
Why do people need to continue learning? It's actually very simple: do you want to improve, regress, or stay where you are? No matter what stage of life you're in, whether you're a student, working, starting a business, or undertaking any task, you must be clear about your position.
It's great to know you're making progress. It shows you care about and are dedicated to what you're doing.
It's good to know you're regressing; it means you're monitoring and being vigilant about yourself.
But if you're indifferent to what you do, and only stay in your comfort zone, you'll inevitably be eliminated over time.
Especially in our “beauty” industry, our keen senses must be kept in top condition at all times. Because you never know what the next popular makeup look, popular fashion style, or popular trend will be.
Every year, we discuss with professors from National Taiwan University to plan the curriculum and itinerary for students. We make adjustments each year to ensure the courses are tailored to the students' current needs, with different techniques taught based on their progress.
For example, the students we sent last batch, they studied,
1. The creation of mixed-media art, how to take materials that commonly appear in daily life but have never been considered for shaping, and through processing and design, transform them into a beautiful headdress/hair accessory or even a piece of clothing.
2. Bald cap styling. We've seen bald head styles often when watching plays, and bald cap heads that are already molded are sold in special effects makeup shops. But can we make them ourselves besides buying them? The teacher taught the students how to make a bald cap, from molding, shaping, drying, demolding, how to wear it, and how to color it. This gave the students a different experience.
3. Advanced hair design techniques for students who can travel to Taiwan for further study. Students who have already reached a certain level in the academy's courses will naturally continue to learn advanced hair design techniques in the advanced course. This will provide students with more assistance in their future hair design endeavors.
4. Skincare product manufacturing process. I usually use skincare products and also apply them to customers. Of course, it's essential to understand the skincare product manufacturing process. The teacher will explain in detail and guide students step-by-step to complete the production of facial cleanser, toner, and mask.
5. Creative Styling Design: The techniques learned in the beauty industry are never used in isolation. They must be perfectly combined and applied to complete a full styling. In addition to having students practice combining techniques, we also aim to spark their creativity, allowing them to express their innovative ideas through their work.
In addition to learning technical skills different from Malaysian curricula, students who go to Taiwan for further studies can also enhance their
Adaptability. When you arrive in an unfamiliar place, how can you quickly integrate into the current environment and get yourself into a good state?
Adaptability: When learning a new technology, how do you adjust your usual methods and style to complete the task?
Leadership skills. While studying, you might be assigned to lead a group. How should you lead your teammates and assign tasks?
Mutual cooperation and communication, at the moment of learning, we were assigned to different small groups. How to integrate and cooperate with different group members in different groups.
Self-discipline: Leaving family and a familiar environment, although still accompanied by teachers, one is not helped by family with everything as at home, which can foster an independent mindset.
