Previously, to strengthen students' creative concepts, the academy designed a new conceptual makeup styling course. Before they knew it, the entire course had been running for two months. Every class had homework, which involved students looking at images, imagining, and then applying their imaginations onto facial diagrams.
The students' homework has shown significant improvement! From being unable to draw an outline and having a blank mind when looking at pictures, unable to think of anything, to now being able to draw clear outlines for makeup, hairstyles, and overall styling designs on white paper, the teacher has seen the entire process the students went through!
The above shows a student's work on conceptual makeup from the beginning. Clearly, their ideas were more conservative, and they were afraid of making mistakes, leading them to believe that doing too much would lead to too many errors. This inhibited them from trying bold concepts. The dimensionality of the eyes, contours, and lips was neglected. Not much attention was paid to details, and the overall dimensionality had not yet emerged. However, after adjustments and further research, the later work showed significant improvement! Once the eyes and lips gained dimensionality, the entire expression was greatly enhanced! Especially the refinement and bold innovation of ideas. This is precisely what this course aims to achieve!
The above is another student's homework evolution. The first piece of homework had good details and unique ideas. However, the drawing skills were not yet proficient, and the color matching was not bold enough. The second piece of homework also needed improvement in terms of ideas and skills. It wasn't until later assignments, when the teacher requested makeup and hairstyle designs for faces, that the student's work truly amazed the teacher. The student's deep personal connection to the homework images allowed them to express creative makeup ideas, which were then complemented by hairstyle pairings. Although the teacher didn't require the hairstyles to be drawn and allowed images to be used for representation, this student diligently drew the hairstyles themselves. This was a significant plus.
Let's look at another student's homework. The early homework was quite colorful, and the gaze was gentler. The later homework started to have some dark and somber ideas. This is also a student who puts a lot of thought into their assignments, often using items as decorative elements for makeup, such as sunflower petals stacked to form a sunflower and pearls. This adds more dimension to the overall look!
Every time I see my classmates' coursework, I'm moved by their work. Especially seeing their progress from their first assignment to their current level, while it may not be perfect, it's definitely a labor of love. This is also a small reward for the teachers teaching from home!
