“AMM Masked Singer” is a Malaysian masked singing competition. During the preliminary rounds, singers wear their self-made masks to showcase their voices, capturing the attention of judges and the audience. Once they reach the top 15, they can finally remove their masks and appear before everyone with their real faces.
The top 15 contestants can finally show their true faces, so how could poster shoots be missed? Our students are responsible for the styling and makeup for the poster shoots.
Before the shoot, students definitely need to prepare. The organizers had no specific restrictions on makeup and hairstyles before the shoot, allowing us to understand the desired look for the singers and their outfits. This gave our students the freedom to design suitable makeup and hairstyles for the singer contestants. Therefore, the students put in a lot of effort researching online what kind of makeup and hairstyles would be appropriate for the poster shoot.
Of course, plans never keep up with changes. Due to unforeseen circumstances on site, some students' styles were temporarily changed to different styles and outfits than before. Fortunately, the students were all prepared to adapt. Although the outfits changed, the students remained calm and made slight adjustments to their makeup and hairstyles based on the singers' facial features, face shapes, and communication with the costume designers to create suitable matching looks.
During the filming process, the singer first took photos for the poster, and then a set of photos wearing masks. Therefore, students had to cooperate and help each other with touch-ups. This wasn't just about checking how well the poster photos turned out, but also about helping the singers adjust the visual effect after they put on the masks. On-site, students were not only responsible for their own tasks but also generously helped other students who needed assistance.
The teachers in charge at the scene were very pleased to watch, as the students“ every action on-site was not a result of constant reminders and urging from the teachers, but rather self-initiated and executed. The teachers often remind students that ”attitude is important.“ A good stylist isn't just good because of their incredible skills, but must also have a ”good learning attitude and a good work attitude" to excel. I'm very happy that you have achieved this, and are doing better and better.
